Product Description

100% Pure & Unrefined Batana Oil for Hair and Scalp

Batana oil comes from the nut of the American oil palm and has been used for generations by the Miskito people of Honduras, long enough that they became known for their hair. Ours is pure and unrefined, which means it arrives dark, thick and earthy rather than pale and odourless. That is what genuine batana looks and smells like, and it is the version worth having.

Rich in essential fatty acids, antioxidants and natural vitamins, OMEZ Batana Oil sinks into dry hair and scalp to soften, condition and bring back shine. It reduces breakage and split ends, which is what lets your hair hold onto the length it grows, most people lose length to snapping rather than to slow growth, and this is where that stops.

It is lightweight for an oil, absorbs well, and does not leave hair greasy or weighed down.

What it does

  • Deeply moisturises dry hair and scalp
  • Reduces breakage and split ends
  • Softens coarse, brittle hair and improves manageability
  • Restores shine to dull, dry hair
  • Conditions the scalp and eases dryness
  • Lightweight and non-greasy
  • Suits all hair types and textures

Perfect for

Natural hair, braids, relaxed hair, protective styles, edges, and hair that has been coloured or chemically treated and needs the extra care. It also works beautifully on eyebrows, beards and dry patches of skin, so one jar does more than one job.

How to use it

Warm a small amount between your palms and work it through your hair and into your scalp. Use it daily, or at least three times a week. On braids or a protective style, part your hair and apply directly to the scalp, then smooth what is left over the length.

A little goes a long way, so start small and add more where your hair needs it.

Use it with your OMEZ routine

Batana Oil and Omez Chebe Hair Butter work well together. Use the oil on your scalp and through your hair, then seal everything in with the butter to keep that moisture where it belongs. The oil conditions, the butter locks it in.

What to expect

Softer, shinier, more manageable hair within the first couple of weeks. Less breakage becomes noticeable over six weeks or so, with the difference in your length showing from around three months of consistent use.

A note on buying batana oil. Genuine unrefined batana is dark brown with a strong earthy scent. If you find batana oil that is pale and smells of nothing, it has been refined, and refining strips out much of what you are paying for. Ours is unrefined, which is why it looks and smells the way it does.

Frequently Asked Questions

Batana Oil is pressed from the nut of the American oil palm and has been used traditionally for generations on hair and skin. It conditions deeply, softens coarse hair, adds slip and shine, and helps keep hair from breaking, which is what allows it to hold its length.

Daily, or at least three times a week. Warm a small amount between your palms and work it through your hair and scalp. Consistency is what produces results.

Yes. Massage it into the scalp as well as working it through the length. It is lighter than a butter, so it spreads easily.

Because ours is 100% pure and unrefined. Genuine batana oil is dark brown with a distinctive earthy scent. A pale, odourless batana oil has been refined, which strips out much of what makes it worth using.

Yes, and they work well together. Use Batana Oil on the scalp and through the hair, and follow with Omez Chebe Hair Butter to seal everything in.

Not if you warm it between your palms first and work it through evenly. It absorbs well. Applying it to damp rather than dry hair helps it spread further.
