Most hair care brands do not put a face in front of the product. Omez does, deliberately because in a market where the same heritage ingredient gets claimed by dozens of anonymous listings, knowing who formulated something and what they will personally stand behind is one of the few reliable signals a buyer has.
This page is who she is, why she built the brand, what she refuses to claim, and how to be certain you are buying the genuine product.
Who she is
Victoria Ometere Abraham is a Nigerian woman from Kogi State and the founder of Omez Beauty Products. She has 4C hair, which is not incidental to the business, it is the reason it exists.
Like most women with tightly coiled hair, she spent years buying products marketed as natural or suitable for Black hair and finding that they had been formulated without much understanding of what 4C hair actually needs. Moisture that vanished within hours. Promises of growth that no product could keep. Ingredient lists built around what was cheap to manufacture rather than what worked on the texture named on the label.
That gap became the brief: build products for textured hair from the traditions that were developed around textured hair, and be honest about what they can and cannot do. The result was a company built around chebe the Chadian preparation covered in the complete chebe guide. rather than around a marketing category.
Why she stands in front of the brand
Founder visibility is not vanity in this market. It is a verification mechanism.
Chebe went from a regional Chadian tradition to a globally searched ingredient in under a decade, and the market filled with products using the name and very little of the ingredient. When a brand has a named founder with a stated connection to the tradition, a supply chain they will describe, and a person who answers for the formulation, you have something to check. When a product has none of those, you have a label. The authentic chebe guide covers the full checklist for telling one from the other.
It also creates accountability for what gets claimed. Across this blog you will find the same statement repeated: no product accelerates hair growth. Hair grows at roughly half an inch per month per figures reviewed by the American Academy of Dermatology, and nothing topical changes that. What chebe does is reduce breakage so the growth you already produce accumulates into visible length. That is a smaller claim than the industry standard, and it is the one Victoria is willing to put her name to. Her own account of it is in her note on whether chebe really grows hair.
The 2023 setback
Small brands rarely publish the difficult parts. This one is worth telling because it is directly relevant to anyone trying to buy the genuine product.
In 2023, a former member of the marketing team who had worked with the company for over a year left and used confidential materials and internal strategy to launch a competing brand. Website copy was reproduced closely. There were attempts to private-label the formulations, and an attempt to register the Omez Beauty name as a trademark which, had it succeeded, would have locked the company out of its own brand.
It did not succeed. The attempts were blocked, and in March 2025 Omez Beauty Products secured formal registration and ownership of the name.
The reason it belongs on this page rather than in a private file: it is the clearest possible illustration of why buyers should care where they are buying from. If a brand name can be targeted by someone who worked inside the company, it can certainly be targeted by an anonymous seller on a marketplace.
How to be sure you are buying genuine Omez
One official store. Omez Beauty products are sold only at omezbeautyproducts.com. Omez does not sell on Amazon. Any listing there claiming to be Omez Beauty is not from us, and we cannot vouch for what is in it.
This matters more than it might sound. A counterfeit chebe product does not just waste money it teaches the buyer that chebe does not work, which is the more lasting damage. A large share of "I tried chebe and saw nothing" experiences trace back to a product that contained almost no chebe.
If you are ever unsure whether something is genuine, the safest check is simply where you bought it. Direct from the official store, or from a stockist Omez has confirmed. Nothing else.
How to verify any hair brand, not just this one
These signals apply to any brand claiming a heritage ingredient, and they are worth running on Omez as readily as on anyone else.
-
Is there a named founder who appears publicly? Someone who answers questions, appears in their own content, and can be held to what the brand claims.
-
Is a country of origin named for the hero ingredient? Chad for chebe, Ghana for shea. "African botanical blend" with no country named usually means the specifics would not help the sale.
-
Where does the hero ingredient sit on the ingredient list? Lists run by concentration. Near the bottom means it is there to justify the product name.
-
Is there one clearly stated official sales channel? Brands that know they are being counterfeited say plainly where they do and do not sell.
-
What is being promised? Accelerated growth, "instant" results, or two-week transformations are not achievable. A brand willing to say so is telling you something about how it treats every other claim.
Ownership and transparency are separate questions, and worth keeping separate. A brand can be authentically sourced without being Black-owned, and a Black-owned brand can still sell a diluted product. If supporting Black-owned businesses matters to you and for many customers it does verify it directly: a named founder, a stated ownership structure, and a public presence you can actually check. The guide to African hair care products covers the parallel question of what "made in Africa" actually means in practice.
What the brand is for
Omez was built around a specific reader: a woman with 4C, coily, or tightly textured hair who has spent money on products that did not understand her hair, and who is tired of being sold miracles.
That shapes the formulations traditional African botanicals like chebe and unrefined shea, blended for the moisture retention and breakage prevention textured hair actually needs, rather than reformulated versions of products designed for looser textures. The story of chebe covers where the tradition comes from, and the complete 4C hair care routine covers how it is meant to be used.
It also shapes what the brand will not do. No claims about growth rate. No before-and-after implying results no product delivers. Honest timelines softness in two weeks, less breakage by six, visible length somewhere between three and six months, and nothing worth judging before then.
Beyond the products, the intent has been to keep economic value close to the tradition it came from: sourcing from local suppliers, working with African artisans and manufacturers, and opening wholesale routes for stylists, salon owners, and retailers. It is a slower and more expensive way to build a beauty brand than the alternative, and it is the reason the company exists in the shape it does.
A note from Victoria
To anyone who has ever been underestimated, overlooked, or told their dreams were too much I see you.
Building this has not been smooth. There were years of formulating and reformulating, freight bills that swallowed the margin on an entire batch, and a period where someone tried to take the name off us entirely. None of that was the plan. All of it made the brand more certain of what it is.
What I would say to anyone reading this who is building something of their own: you do not have to water down your light. Speak up. Build boldly. And do not let anyone convince you that what belongs to you is theirs to take.
And to everyone who has bought a jar, left a review, or told a friend you are the reason this is still here. Thank you.
